Surviving in Metro Exodus is all about making the decision on a split second. While this is guaranteed when playing on a console, PC gamers constantly have to tweak between performance and looks to ensure that they get the best looking game possible without taking serious FPS hits.
A good way to monitor FPS in Metro Exodus is by overlaying the display over your game. How you do it depends on what graphics card you are using.
Showing FPS in Metro Exodus Using NVIDIA
If you are using NVIDIA graphics cards, you will need the GeForce Experience app to overlay FPS stats over your game. Once you have the app installed:
- Launch the GeForce Experience app
- Click the settings gear icon to the top right
- Go to In-Game Overlay and press settings
- Navigate to HUD display
- Select the FPS counter
Using MSI Afterburner
MSI Afterburner is a great way to check your FPS and other statistics when playing a game. Grab and install the latest copy of the software from the official MSI website and launch it.

- Click the settings button in the bottom right section of MSI Afterburner
- Select the Monitoring tab in the ensuing menu
- Find Framerate in the list of Active Hardware Monitoring Graphs list and enable it
- Once you select it and it is highlighted, check the options in the bottom section of the dialog box and tick the box with ‘ Show in On-Screen Display
- Hit OK and you are good to go.
