Animal Crossing: New Horizons is an interesting game that lets you play in a virtual world. You get to involve yourself in farming, fishing, and many more. Among the things you can do is buy house plots and provide residence to citizens.

You will unlock another activity when you have expanded your house and built the Museum and the Nook Cranny’s item store. It involves buying house plots from Tom Nook and constructing houses for residents to move to your island.

In this guide, we’ll teach you how to build houses for villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

How to get an empty plot Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Once you have completed the campsite level by getting your sixth residence, you will unlock the next level to buy land from Tom Nook. When you buy the housing plots, you can arrange a city plan for your residents to live in before they get to your town.

What you need to do is go to the Residence Services and go to Tom Nook’s station. The feature is only available after upgrading Residence Services. From there, you will talk to Tom Nook at the construction consultant station, saying, “Sell some land,” which will cost you 10,000 Bells.

As expensive as these housing plots are, you will earn Nook miles when someone moves into them. In addition, he will give you housing kits which you will place outside to mark where you want to build your house.

How to build houses for villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Once you have received three housing kits from Tom Nook, look around in search of plots to place them. Each housing kit comes with a list of furniture for the houses. The furniture is all made with random DIY recipes, which shall be provided to you by Nook.

Tom Nook will also give you a ladder that you can use to explore the higher levels of the island. The recipe to craft a ladder requires four wood, 4 Hardwood, and 4 Softwood. Once you have completed constructing it, place it next to the cliff and press A.

Go outside to where you want to build a housing plot. Select your inventory, open it, select the House Kit option, then select Build Here. An outline of where the house will appear on the land. If you are satisfied with the position, select This is the spot. If you want to see what the housing plot will look like, select Let me imagine it.

Otherwise, if you are not satisfied and want to place it somewhere else, select I need to rethink it. Then, when you have placed your housing kit, be ready for a new residence to move into your island.

How many houses can you have?

You can have ten houses in the housing plots that you sell on your island. However, the maximum number of people required in your plot is 10.

The reason behind this is because of the limited amount of space for additional buildings and shops.

What happens after you build three houses in Animal Crossing?

When you have placed the three houses in the housing plot, use the DIY recipes given to you by Nook to decorate it with furniture.

Next, you will play the waiting game, inviting people to move into your houses. Only one person can move in a day, so occupying the houses will take three real-world days.

Read: How to get turnips in Animal Crossing

Can you build multiple houses in Animal Crossing?

Unfortunately, you only have to build one house for your main character. That is why you should have a side character for which you can build another house. You can create a side character using your other profiles. This way, you can have more houses to decorate and more opportunities to earn more bells and interact with other NPC characters.

How do you get a housing kit in Animal Crossing?

The housing kit is an essential that marks where you will build your new house for your potential villager. You need to purchase it from Tom Nook’s for 10,000 Bells to get it. Remember that you can only get 3 to 5 housing kits for each plot.

Wrapping up

When you have unlocked the building bridge phase, you will have to build housing plots for your residents. To achieve this, you must go to Residential Service and visit Tom Nook’s office saying, “Sell some land.” He will provide you with housing kits, and you will have to look for housing plots to place them.

Once you have found the right plot, you can build houses in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and invite residents to live there on your island. Enjoy this level while earning Nook Miles for every house you sell.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you will embark on a journey with Jolly Redd, who returns with furniture and art. You will follow him to the boat, where he has various paintings for sale. Therefore, you should be keen if you want to purchase genuine paintings amidst fake ones.

You can only purchase one of the four displayed paintings, so you better choose wisely. So, how do you spot a fake painting in Animal Crossing? It is quite easy after reading through this article that shares tips on how to do so.

Are Redd’s paintings always fake?

Redd returns with four types of paintings and two pieces of furniture in Animal Crossing. His purpose is to sell you genuine paintings which can be donated to the museum and fake ones which cannot. In some cases, all four artworks can turn out to be fake.

On the other hand, Redd may sell more than one genuine painting. As per the nameplates in the museum, there are 43 art paintings you are required to find and donate. Once purchased, the artwork will be mailed to you the following day.

Read: How to get log stakes in Animal Crossing

How to spot fake crazy Redd’s painting in Animal Crossing?

Jolly Redd’s artworks are based on real-world sculptures and paintings. The sly fox will, however, try to sell you a fake one that looks similar to the original one. So it is safe to say that each fake artwork has a visible difference from the original one.

However, it isn’t easy to differentiate the two in Animal Crossing: New Horizon since Redd has upgraded his skill from Animal Crossing: New Leaf. We shall, therefore, highlight the difference between a fake painting and a real one in each of the categorial paintings.

“Lady with an Ermine” – Leonardo da Vinci as the serene painting: The real artwork has the woman holding an all-white ermine. The ermine in the fake one has raccoon-like circles under his eyes.

“The Mona Lisa” – Leonardo da Vinci as famous painting: The woman in the fake painting has eyebrows drawn on her.

“Las Meninas” – Diego Velazquez as the solemn painting: In the fake painting, the man in the background raises his arm more than in the real artwork.

“The Blue Boy” – Thomas Gainsborough as the basic painting: The boy has more hair in the fake version.

“Ajisai Sōkeizu” – Itō Jakuchū as the detailed painting: The fake painting has purple foliage instead of blue and is missing a signature on the left.

“Folding screen of Fūjin and Raijin” – Tawaraya Sōtatsu: The beast in the fake artwork is white when instead it should be green.

“The Milkmaid” – Johannes Vermeer as the quaint painting: The woman in the fake painting is pouring more milk than in the real version.

“The Night Watch” – Rembrandt Van Rijn as the amazing painting: In the fake painting, the man in the front with a dark suit is missing his hat.

“Ōtani Oniji the 3rd As Yakko Edobei” – Tōshūsai Sharaku as the scary painting: In the fake painting, the man has sad-looking eyebrows, while in the real one, they are angrier. Another fake version will have him smiling and having sad-looking eyebrows.

“The Birth of Venus” by Sandro Botticelli is the moving painting: The trees are missing in the top right corner in the fake version.

“The Hunters in the Snow” – Pieter Bruegel the Elder as the scenic painting: The fake artwork is missing a hunter and some dogs.

“Girl with A Pearl Earring” – Johannes Vermeer as the wistful painting: The real painting has pearl earrings, while the one in the fake version has a star-shaped earring, and her eyes are shut.

“Vitruvian Man” – Leonardo Da Vinci as the academic painting: The fake version has a coffee stain at the corner of the painting.

“Beauty Looking Back” – Hishikawa Moronobu as the graceful painting: In the real artwork, the woman has a white tag near her hair, while in the fake one, she doesn’t. Furthermore, the woman in the fake version is larger and looks toward the left instead of the right.

“Summer” – Giuseppe Arcimboldo as the jolly painting: The painting misses the sprout on the subject’s chest in the fake version.

Paintings that are always genuine

Below is a list of paintings that are always genuine:

“Liberty leading the people” – Eugene Delacroix as the worthy painting.

“The Clothed Maja” – Francisco De Goya as the warm artwork.

Apples and Oranges by Paul Ceźanne is the Perfect painting.

Sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh is a flowery painting.

What do you do with fake paintings in Animal Crossing?

If you have purchased a fake painting in Animal Crossing, you cannot donate it to the museum. Neither Timmy nor Tommy would want to purchase it.

The only option left is to dispose of it using a Trash Can furnishing item if you have no use for it. You can also choose to display it in your home or island since they are considered to be haunted.

Animal Crossing is a video game series that was developed and published by Nintendo. In the games, you play as a human character living in rural village with anthropomorphic animals.

The gameplay is open-ended where players have no defined objectives. Instead, they are encouraged to live in the village and perform different tasks. As you play along, you may need a bridge for connecting your island home together and to make exploration easier. This is the point where log stakes become more useful.

So, you may be wondering how to get log stakes in Animal Crossing. Fortunately, we got your back, we will show you how to get them in this guide. But first, let’s see what log stakes are.

What are log stakes?

Log stakes are an important component used to make a wooden bridge. Therefore, you will need them most when you need to build a bridge. They look like regular wooden stakes and sell for 360 bells.

When you go to a workbench, or open your Nook Phone then look at the recipes, you should be able to find log stakes by clicking on the Housewares tab.

Read Also: How to catch Tarantula in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

How do you get log stakes?

Log stakes are not found naturally in Animal crossing. You will thus have to craft them.

Luckily, making log stakes is quite easy. You will need three pieces of wood. The wood is obtained by hitting the trees with a stone or a flimsy axe. They will then appear in your inventory.

But, be careful not to use the iron axe. This is because it will cut the tree down completely instead.

Log stakes are crafted at any DIY workbench. So the workbench is among the essential elements you need to continue with your crafting.

Once you have all the three pieces of wood and in your DIY workbench, you are good to go. Just select the log stakes card in your Workbench, and craft your log stakes. You will need to build a number of them (as indicated) to be able to finish your bridge. The wood items in your inventory will be utilized in so doing.

Read Also: How to get bamboo in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Once you have crafted your log stakes, go ahead and build your bridge. In case you need more of them, you will just have to collect additional pieces of wood.

Note: There will be plenty of other things like log stakes that you may run into in Animal Crossing. So, to be on the safe side, be sure to check the workbench for recipes. This might solve some of the problems you may end up having in-game.

Conclusion

Animal crossing is one of the best ways to spend time in the gaming world. You can do even more in-game after building bridges. We hope that this guide was really helpful in crafting your log stakes in the game. We would like to know your experience with the same. Also, if you encounter any problem with making log stakes, let us know in the comments section below.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, turnips are considered as valuable assets. There are many ways to get rich in the game. You can sell a bunch of stuff like butterflies, fruits, or fish. They do not fetch as much in the market but if sold continuously, they will rake in a profit. Turnips, on the other hand, are a sure deal when it comes to growing your fortune.

The only way to get your hands on turnips is through purchasing them. They can’t be grown as compared to other plants in the game. Different versions of the game like Animal Crossing: City Folk or Animal Crossing: Wild World, have given players the option of planting red turnips.

Sadly, they are not available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons thus players do not need to worry about planting the turnips that they purchase.

How to buy turnips in Animal Crossing

You will need to unlock the Nook’s Cranny so that you can purchase turnips. To do so, you will have to settle your first loan with Tommy Nook. After that, proceed to Resident Services where Tommy Nook will ask for your assistance in building a small shop – the Nook’s Cranny – on the island.

For this task, you will need to collect 30 pieces for each of the following items: wood, softwood, hardwood, and iron. Deliver them to Tommy Nook for construction to begin. The Nook’s Cranny will be completed in a day.

Read Also: How to get bamboo shoots Animal Crossing

A character by the name Daisy Mae will, in turn, visit your town on Sundays. She can only be seen from 4:00 am to 12:00 pm. This is the only day you can purchase turnips. She sells them in bundles of 10. The price usually varies from 90 to 110 Bells. It is advisable to purchase them at a lower price so that you can sell them at a higher price. You can purchase as many turnips as you want.

Due to the varying price of turnips in Animal Crossing, each player may be presented with a different price. For instance, one player may be able to purchase turnips for 92 Bells each, while another has a price of 95 Bells each. You’re allowed to buy turnips when visiting another player’s island if they have access to a better price than you do.

How to store turnips

Turnips cannot be stored in the same manner as other fruits and vegetables in this game. You can store them in the house, but you will have to toss them down on the floor. This is the safest method. But if you bought many turnips and your house is small, you will have to resort to storing them outside. This is a bit risky as anyone can come and pick them up when they are outside.

You will have to fence your house so that you can prevent this. A fence can be purchased from the Nook Stop in Resident Services. You can also find a spot on your island to use as a storage pen. Once you clear the spot and toss your turnips on the ground, fence it so that you can prevent them from being stolen.

Storing turnips doesn’t prevent them from rotting. They have a life span of 7 days. The good thing, is they are still useful even when they are spoilt. Rotten turnips attract ants and flies. You can sell the ants and flies for additional money. You will also need them when building a museum.

For the turnips that are still ripe, you will need to sell them before Daisy Mae comes back to your town. Every Monday after your encounter with her, Tommy Nook and his brother will start purchasing turnips from you. They will come every day except on Sunday.

They will alternate their prices twice in a day. This leaves you with a pattern indicating how the sales will look like for the rest of the week. You might make a fortune easily or be forced to sell the turnips at a lower price than you bought them.
